Why ProjectABLE
Meet Lauren
For more than 15 years, I’ve helped people build confidence, navigate change and succeed through education, communication and practical support.
My career has spanned education, healthcare, charity leadership and patient engagement, always with one common thread: helping people have better conversations and creating environments where they can thrive.
I’ve designed and delivered learning programmes, led national projects, built and directed a charity, presented to audiences across the UK and internationally, and worked alongside patients, clinicians, employers and senior leaders. Having also worked within commercial healthcare organisations, I understand the balance between supporting people, achieving business objectives and creating workplaces where both can succeed.
ProjectABLE brings those experiences together with one simple purpose: helping organisations retain experienced talent through confident conversations and practical workplace support.
I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all training or overwhelming organisations with legislation and policy. I believe in helping humans support humans through practical strategies, confident conversations and workplaces where talented people can contribute and succeed.
Why ProjectABLE exists
Professionally, I’ve spent years helping people build confidence, create opportunities and navigate change.
Vulnerably, I’ve also spent years fighting for my own place in the workplace.
Living with chronic pain and disability hasn’t simply been something I’ve managed alongside my career.
It has shaped it.
I’ve experienced what it’s like to have to explain my health before people notice my experience.
To justify reasonable adjustments before being trusted to do the job I know I can do.
To feel like I’m simultaneously proving my illness is real whilst proving my professional worth.
That leaves a mark.
Not because disability limits ambition.
But because constantly battling for the opportunity to contribute is emotionally exhausting.
Because I realised the problem wasn’t usually a lack of compassion.
It was a lack of confident conversations.
Good managers avoiding conversations because they were worried about saying the wrong thing.
Talented employees carrying invisible resistance bands every single day while quietly trying to prove they still belonged.
Organisations losing experienced people who were never asking for a way out…
…they were asking for a way to stay.
Over time, those experiences stopped feeling personal and started feeling systemic.
I realised I wasn’t the exception.
I was hearing the same stories from talented people across the country.
- Different diagnoses.
- Different employers.
- Different industries.
- The same battles.
That was the moment ProjectABLE stopped being an idea and became a mission.
Not because I wanted people to understand my story.
Because I wanted fewer people to have to tell the same one.
I believe talented people shouldn’t have to spend so much of their energy proving they deserve the opportunity to contribute.
That energy should be spent doing what they do best.
Helping humans support humans isn’t just ProjectABLE’s philosophy.
It’s why ProjectABLE exists.
